Industrial Communication Gateway

A global market leader in electrical engineering and automation needed a re-engineering of an embedded, real-time Linux-based, industrial communication gateway device serving SCADA and DCS clients. The system collects information from field devices and provides that information to other actors or consumers on a when requested basis. The server-side system supports both Modbus and Hart IP TCP/UDP communication protocols for clients requesting information from adapters and sub-devices on a network. The client-side supports any WirelessHART sensor, meter or controller field device. PSI helped minimize cost by re-engineering 80% of the system with a 50% reduction in code size. Additional features and interfaces were added along with dynamic configurable attributes. System free-time went from less than 5% to 98% and throughput increased dramatically and passed certification.
