3 Quick Tips to Keep Your Company and Client Data Secure
The National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCA) is NOW designating an ENTIRE WEEK to celebrate Data Privacy! National Data Privacy Day, (originally recognized on January 28), has turned into a week-long awareness campaign celebrating the first legally binding international treaty regarding online privacy and data protection which was signed on January 28, 1981. National Data Privacy Week helps to spread awareness about online security and privacy, educating internet users on how to properly manage their personal information to keep it safe.
If you’re responsible for your business’ handling of consumer data, then you may feel particularly passionate about this and try to stay as current as possible on data privacy best practices. If you are someone who needs to validate their data privacy practices, or if you are looking for some new information, here are 3 tips that can benefit you:
- Understand the privacy laws and regulations that directly apply to your business. Make sure these regulations are satisfied in your business’ data privacy plan.
- Keep in mind that your organization is also responsible for the ways that your business partners and other vendors who are providing services on your company’s behalf are storing consumer’s data.
- Create a company culture that emphasizes the importance of data privacy. Educate employees about the company’s security policy to ensure compliance at every level.
BONUS TIP:
- Conducting an assessment to see where your company stands with its current data policies is one of the best ways to make sure your consumers’ data is secure. Follow said privacy laws & regulations, and if you do not already have one, consider adopting a privacy framework.
